May 2017

  • May 1 – 12: 2017 Summer Institute – The 2017 Summer Institute in the The Department of Public Health Sciences in the College of Medicine at MUSC will offer May workshops that introduce current quantitative methods used in key areas of public health, population health and biomedical & clinical research and offer hands on experience with implementing these methods.

 

  • May 5: Alliance Communications Team Meeting – The purpose of the Alliance Communications Team is to guide the development and implementation of the communication strategy of the Alliance. This team supports the development of messages to communicate the Alliance vision for South Carolina, and how each organization can connect with that vision.   • May 19-20: Governor’s Cup Corporate Challenge – Working Well is partnering with the Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Road Race, the oldest continuously conducted running event in South Carolina, to promote the race to employers throughout SC. The 2017 running festival is scheduled for May 19-20 and includes the following events:
    • Governor’s Cup Half-Marathon;
    • Blue Cross Blue Shield 5K Run and Walk;
    • Main Street Mile; and
    • Kids’ Mile Fun Run.

 

  • May 23: Alliance Alignment Team Meeting – The purpose of the Alignment Team is to guide and promote the tactical alignment of efforts of Alliance member organizations, Alliance Teams, and Coalitions to ensure progress towards the Alliance 2020 Goals.   • May 31: Alliance Policy and Advocacy Team Meeting – The purpose of the Alliance Policy and Advocacy Team is to identify opportunities to leverage the collective voice of the Alliance to achieve Alliance goals; inclusive of type and level of advocacy needed, determine the most effective ways to reduce barriers for the achievement of Alliance goals through advocacy, and guide collective advocacy efforts approved by the Alliance. June 2017

  • June 6: Alliance Health Equity Team Meeting – The purpose of the Health Equity Team is to serve as a resource for Alliance members who are willing to include disparity reduction as a core component of its day to day work in the individual impact and collective impact of their work, evaluate health disparities and our state’s efforts to decrease them, and serve as a steering committee for the South Carolina Call to Action for Health Equity.

 

  • June 14: 2nd Annual SC Population Health Summit – The Summit aims to convene grassroots community leaders and organizations that can have an impact on population health for the purpose of streamlining efforts to make a Healthier SC for all. SC AHEC’s SCHOOLS will host nine simultaneous meetings in different regions throughout the state. The nine locations are: Beaufort, Charleston, Columbia, Easley, Florence, Georgetown, Greenville, Rock Hill, and Walterboro. For a flyer to share with your contacts, click here.   • June 20: Alliance Member Meeting – All Alliance member meetings are from 10 AM to 12 PM, with 9:30 – 10:00 and 12:00 – 12:30 serving as networking times. Call in information is available.  If you are not a member and you are interested in becoming one, please email lperret@scha.org to inquire.

July 2017

  • July 27-28: Lowcountry Mental Health Conference – The Lowcountry Mental Health Conference will be at the new Gaillaird Performance Hall in Charleston, SC. The theme for this year’s conference is “Innovations in Psychotherapy: Advanced Skill Development for Practicing Clinicians.” Speakers include Mindsight Institute Executive Director Daniel Siegel and best selling author Jeffrey Kottler. The conference is a great experience for all mental health professionals and community members who have an interest in mental health issues.

August 2017
