July 2017

  • July 10: Get Your House In Order: Strategies to Advance Racial Equity – The Advancing Race Equity and Inclusion Webinar series is comprised of four webinars that aim to provide individuals and organizations with the foundational knowledge needed to integrate race equity and inclusion into programs, policies, and practices. The webinars will deepen knowledge of race equity and inclusion into programs, policies, and practices.

 

  • July 27: Implementing and Sustaining Physical Activity and Nutrition Programs in Faith-Based Settings – Faith-based programs can play a vital role in extending the reach of public health efforts. The 2017 symposium will examine factors related to putting faith-based, evidence-based programs into practice, using the Faith, Activity, and Nutrition (FAN) program as a model. FAN is a combined physical activity and dietary program, previously found to be effective, that seeks to help churches create a healthy church environment that supports physical activity and healthy eating.

 

  • July 27: Tele-Town Hall on End of Life Issues – The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care are partnering with AARP South Carolina to host a tele-town hall on the topics of advance medical directives and end-of life issues. Click here to register for this free event!

 

  • July 27-28: Lowcountry Mental Health Conference – The Lowcountry Mental Health Conference will be at the new Gaillaird Performance Hall in Charleston, SC. The theme for this year’s conference is “Innovations in Psychotherapy: Advanced Skill Development for Practicing Clinicians.” Speakers include Mindsight Institute Executive Director Daniel Siegel and best selling author Jeffrey Kottler. The conference is a great experience for all mental health professionals and community members who have an interest in mental health issues.

 

  • July 31: Data Matters: Disaggregating Data by Race and Ethnicity – The Advancing Race Equity and Inclusion Webinar series is comprised of four webinars that aim to provide individuals and organizations with the foundational knowledge needed to integrate race equity and inclusion into programs, policies, and practices. The webinars will deepen knowledge of race equity and inclusion into programs, policies, and practices.

August 2017

  • August 4: Alliance Communications Team Meeting – The purpose of the Alliance Communications Team is to guide the development and implementation of the communication strategy of the Alliance. This team supports the development of messages to communicate the Alliance vision for South Carolina, and how each organization can connect with that vision.   • August 14: Health Equity in Action: Case Studies from the Carolinas – The Advancing Race Equity and Inclusion Webinar series is comprised of four webinars that aim to provide individuals and organizations with the foundational knowledge needed to integrate race equity and inclusion into programs, policies, and practices. The webinars will deepen knowledge of race equity and inclusion into programs, policies, and practices.

 

  • August 22: Alliance Alignment Team Meeting – The purpose of the Alignment Team is to guide and promote the tactical alignment of efforts of Alliance member organizations, Alliance Teams, and Coalitions to ensure progress towards the Alliance 2020 Goals.   • September 5: Alliance Health Equity Team Meeting – The purpose of the Health Equity Team is to serve as a resource for Alliance members who are willing to include disparity reduction as a core component of its day to day work in the individual impact and collective impact of their work, evaluate health disparities and our state’s efforts to decrease them, and serve as a steering committee for the South Carolina Call to Action for Health Equity.

 

  • September 6-7: 2017 SC Governor’s Opioid Summit – Sponsored by the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS), the Summit will be a statewide response to the opioid epidemic, bringing together healthcare professionals, state and local agencies, concerned citizens and law enforcement to collaborate on solutions.  Keynote speakers will include Governor Henry McMaster and Bertha K. Madras, Ph.D., of Harvard Medical School.  Partnering with DAODAS to present the summit are the state Department of Health and Human Services; Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation; S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED); and the Department of Health and Environmental Control.

 

  • September 11-13: 41st Annual Hospice and Palliative Care Conference – Join the Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care at their 41st Annual Hospice & Palliative Care Conference in Asheville, NC! The program is designed to provide
    all hospice professionals, regardless of their role in the organization, what they need to know to keep their programs
    operating at the highest level. TCC offers the Carolinas’ only conference specifically designed for hospice and palliative
    care professionals. They address topics such as pain and symptom management, benchmarking for a successful bottom line, marketing to diverse communities, and so much more. They have several nationally recognized speakers joining our lineup of experts from across the industry – physicians, pharmacists, customer service gurus, and others.
