April Declared Live Healthy SC Month

April 17, 2019

Governor McMaster, through a Proclamation, has declared April as Live Healthy SC month. This is an important step forward in creating broad awareness of and commitment to this master blueprint for health across all sectors at the community and state levels. So, what does this mean to each of you as leaders and champions for collective improvement in the health and wellbeing of everyone in SC. Here are my asks of you both this month and as we move forward in rolling out Live Healthy SC statewide:

Ø Actively promote and formally commit to Live Healthy SC as our master plan for creating healthier communities and a healthier state, and openly share with everyone in your respective organizations and to key constituencies you serve.
Ø Encourage others to visit the LiveHealthySC.com website to learn more about the state health needs assessment and health improvement plan, and to view county level data and other resources on this new site.
Ø Take at least one meaningful action within your organization and/or community(ies) you serve over the next 30-60 days that directly connects to the strategic priorities and actions recommended in the Live Healthy SC Plan.
Ø Ensure that your organization is actively engaged with any community health improvement coalitions within your areas of service and facility locations.
Ø Make or renew a commitment to equity-stratify the collection, analysis and dissemination of any relevant data and performance metrics.

Please feel free to contact Dr. Rick Foster at rfoster@scha.org or 843-696-4460, or Monty Robertson at mrobertson@scha.org with any questions about the Live Health Healthy plan or any assistance with addressing the above asks from you and your organization.
