The Alliance Announces 2024 Live Healthy SC Award Winners
The Alliance for a Healthier South Carolina is pleased to announce the winners of the Live Healthy SC Award. The Live Healthy SC Award recognizes the organizations and leaders that exemplify the highest levels of commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of communities they serve.
DR. RICK FOSTER LEADERSHIP AWARD recognizes an individual who has served as a champion for health and health equity at a local, regional, or state level. This year’s recipient is Thaddeus John Bell, MD. Dr. Bell serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Closing the Gap in Health Care where he works to reduce health disparities among African Americans and underserved communities in South Carolina.
COMMUNITY INNOVATION AWARD recognizes community coalition or community-based organization who demonstrates active engagement in leading and guiding innovative work for community health improvement and the elimination of health disparities. This year’s recipient is Healthy Learners. Healthy Learners paves the way for underserved children in South Carolina to access vital healthcare, removing barriers to learning and empowering their success in school and life.
STATE IMPACT AWARD recognizes a state level organization or coalition who demonstrates a commitment to support and takes action under the Live Healthy plan, using a collaborative approach for state health improvement. This year’s recipient is the SC Department of Mental Health (SC DMH). SC DMH’s Transition Specialist Program bridges the gap between inpatient and community care to support long-term recovery for patients across South Carolina.
The award winners were announced at an awards ceremony during the 7th Annual Live Healthy SC Meeting in Columbia, SC on November 4th.
