The Alliance for a Healthier South Carolina Announces New Board Members
Columbia, SC, July 18, 2023 - The Alliance for a Healthier South Carolina is proud to announce the appointment 12 new board members. With a renewed focus on health equity, the Alliance is poised to make a lasting impact on the communities it serves.
Originally established as a part of the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA), The Alliance successfully transitioned to an independent nonprofit organization in May. This strategic move has empowered the Alliance to pursue its goals with increased autonomy, resources, and flexibility.
Comprising more than 60 executive leaders from various sectors, the Alliance leverages its collective expertise to create positive change. By aligning health equity-based goals, metrics, and actions at both the state and community levels, the Alliance works diligently to foster collaboration and coordination among stakeholders.
The new board members include:

Melissa Fair, Community Action Director, Furman University Institute for the Advancement of Community Health

Darlene Lynch, Senior Director of Community Health Transformation, SC Office of Rural Health
Maya Pack, Executive Director, SC Institute of Medicine & Public Health

Brannon Traxler, MD, Director of Public Health, SC Department of Health & Environmental Control

The newly appointed board members represent a wide range of backgrounds, professions, and communities, strengthening the Alliance's ability to address health disparities across the state. Their collective expertise will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative strategies that promote health and well-being for all South Carolinians.
