Inaugural Health Equity Champion Awards Recognize Trailblazers at the SC Health Equity Summit
[Columbia, SC] – The Alliance for a Healthier SC is proud to announce the winners of the first-ever Health Equity Champion Awards. These awards commend significant contributions toward reducing disparities in healthcare access, outcomes, and overall well-being across South Carolina.
Vince Ford Health Equity Award
This award recognizes an organization demonstrating outstanding commitment and innovation in advancing health equity. AnMed wins this year, celebrated for their pioneering efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion that enhance health outcomes and ensure equitable healthcare access.
Health Equity Circle of Champions Award
This award honors individuals showing exceptional leadership in advancing health equity and reducing health disparities. 2023’s distinguished recipients include:
Juana Slade, Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Diversity and Language Services, for her visionary leadership in spearheading transformative health equity initiatives that promote systemic change and community dialogue.
Stacey Seipel, Director of Value-Based Care Coordination, for her role in integrating health equity across MUSC Health, thereby enhancing patient care and embedding equity in clinical and operational practices.
Kimberly Tissot, CEO of Able SC, for her advocacy in dismantling healthcare barriers, championing disability rights, and fostering equitable healthcare environments across South Carolina.
“With these awards, we recognize and celebrate the trailblazers at the forefront of health equity in our community,” said Monty Robertson, Executive Director of the Alliance. “Their innovation and dedication are vital in advancing our collective health equity goals.”
The award winners were honored at a ceremony during the 6th Annual SC Health Equity Summit in Columbia, SC, on April 12th.
